Rustic Pathways is a 32-year-old leader in providing superior quality international community service, education, and adventure programs for students around the world. We offer a wide variety of experiences and operate in 19 countries across the globe.

Rustic Pathways' mission is to empower students through innovative and responsible travel experiences to positively impact lives and communities around the world.

We offfer one- to three-week long summer programs for high school students, as well as month-long and semester-long Gap Year programs in the following countries: Australia, Burma, Cambodia, China, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Fiji, Ghana, India, Laos, Mongolia, Morocco, New Zealand, Peru, Tanzania, Thailand, United States, and Vietnam.

What makes us unique?

1. Over 90 Summer Program Options
We offer over 90 different summer programs, each one tailored to a specific set of student interests. Our programs fall into the categories of community service, adventure, and education, but cover a range of topics. So whether you would like to hone your photography skills in India, improve your Spanish in Costa Rica, adventure through Australia, teach English in Thailand, or help build schools in Fiji, we have a program that fits your specific interest. While we main true to our "rustic" identity and believe in taking students to places that tourists never see, we have experiences for the first-time traveler to the off-the-beaten-path explorer.

2. Connect Programs
If you only have a short time to travel, we provide you with the opportunity to have a powerful experience in just one or two weeks. However, if you'd like to travel for longer, our programs easily connect within regions. Pair a service program with an adventure program for three weeks of work and fun in Costa Rica. Why experience only one country in Southeast Asia? Connect programs in Laos, Burma, Cambodia, and Thailand for a more comprehensive experience.

3. Local Staff
We employ full-time, local staff across the globe. When you travel to our destinations, you're not just visiting famous sites, but our local staff are bringing you to their villages and into their homes for a truly genuine experience. Our students are able to immerse themselves in local culture and have special access to locations that traditional ours cannot provide. Our connections in the communities in which we work are deep and we work closely with them to provide sustainable and meaningful service projects.

4. Industry Leader in Student Experience
Rustic Pathways is constantly innovating to provide an exceptional experience for our students and families. We have a full-time Safety Director who ensures that our programs and activities are safe for our students. We have Personal Travel Advisors that guide families through the sign-up process and make sure that every student is ready to travel. Our program leaders are trained to both challenge students and support them in their personal growth throughout their travel experience. Finally, we provide students with opportunities that are unique to our operations. From working with rehabilitated sloth bears in India to trekking through remote villages in Burma, we offer truly once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
