UW-Platteville is the oldest public institution in the state of Wisconsin, and is considered one of the safest campuses in the nation. We are proud of our students' pursuit of academic excellence and the leadership they continually demonstrate throughout the state, region and nation.
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville takes its roots from the Platteville Normal School State Teachers College (1866) and the Wisconsin Mining Trade School (1908). Since then, the universitys teaching mission has remained the same; develop strong graduates who can take their experience as a student directly to the workforce in an impactful way. Rich in its academic programs, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville consists of three colleges _ the College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture; the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science; and the College of Liberal Arts and Education. We have particular strengths in agriculture, biology, business, criminal justice, education, engineering, and industrial technology. We are forward thinking and innovative in how we are continually developing new programs like nanotechnology and social and environmental justice. Our distinguished faculty are dedicated to teaching and hail from across the globe, and we draw students from all across Wisconsin (usually about 75 percent of all students), Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and beyond.
