    Overview

High Point University is a private liberal arts college located in central North Carolina. Over the past seven years the university has invested over $750 million in new construction and campus improvements to enhance both academic pursuits and student life.

High Point University is committed to academic excellence. Students are taught by career professors who are actively involved in both teaching and scholarly research. Our emphasis on undergraduate research provides students and faculty the opportunity to work collaboratively on a number of special projects and initiatives. Faculty are active in professional associations, are respected writers and researchers, and serve as mentors to our outstanding students. Currently, 76 percent of the faculty members have doctorates or other terminal degrees; others have one or more masters degrees. The array of majors is vast and each has been uniquely designed to challenge, inspire, and transform. Our 68 majors stem from the School of Art and Design, the Earl N. Phillips School of Business, the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication, the School of Education, the School of Health Sciences and the David R. Hayworth College of Arts and Sciences. In addition, the university allows students with well-defined objectives that cannot be satisfied within the regular curriculum to design their own individualized majors.

High Point is a small school with big school facilities. Its 16 varsity teams play at the NCAA Division I level. Students flock to High Point from 47 states and 34 countries, providing the school with great diversity in student history and experience. With 75 percent of students coming from out-of-state and 93 percent living on-campus, the student body has a distinct sense of family.

High Point University is one of the most beautiful and inspiring campuses of its size in America. Expanding over 330 acres, HPUs manicured gardens surround brick walkways and international flags outline the beautiful campus, while Georgian-style architecture and energetic water fountains create an environment of excellence.

Founded in 1924 and rooted in the liberal arts curriculum, High Point University has a strong academic history and is committed to building character, modeling values, and ensuring that students graduate with not only the expertise in their discipline, but also with the skills necessary to be successful in life.
