Community Service
Poverty in Peru is deepest among people of indigenous origin living in remote, rural areas. You’ll focus on empowering Peruvian girls by improving access to education in rural communities. You’ll assist with building new infrastructure for school dormitories to house students from remote areas as they attend high school. Contribute to the wellbeing of rural communities as you see up-close how projects like these can deliver meaningful – and sustainable – change.
Immersive Learning
Outside of service, learn firsthand about Peru’s rich culture that descends from the Incan empire. Visit a local traditional weaving community, where beautiful Andean textiles are produced. Learn to make chocolate the Peruvian way and hear Quechua legends from a local author. Meet with a local shaman and spend the afternoon among local artisans at the bustling market. Engage in discussion with nonprofit organizations to deepen your understanding of Peru’s contemporary culture.
Adventure
The Sacred Valley surrounding Cuzco is full of incredible topography and archaeological marvels. You’ll tour famous ruins, hike to the famous and Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The two-day trek passes through awe-inspiring valleys, and you’ll wake up from camp to staggering snow-capped peaks at 10,000 feet of elevation. You’ll wrap up your time in Peru with an epic whitewater rafting adventure through scenic territory.
