W. Alton Jones is an environmental education center that is looking get students back to nature. With week long sessions there is opportunities to grow as a student but also as an individual.
W. Alton Jones is an environmental education summer camp. During the summer, W. Alton Jones offers week long sessions for teens to explore the natural world and have new experiences. These week long sessions run the entire summer. Each week incorporates a different theme with a brand new set of campers.
During these one week sessions Teen Adventure Camp has opportunities to participate in activities on and off campus. Some of the acitivies on campus is swimming, archery, hiking, canoeing and even laser tag. Off campus are activities such as rock climbing and going to a quarry that offers different water and high ropes elements.
The Campus is 2,300 acres of forest and wetlands. We have over ten miles of hiking trails that is home to many different types of wildlife. On any given day you could come across a turkey, deer, squirrels, fox, fisher cats, and endless amount of birds. There is also different sites around camp such as the historic farm, shelters, beaver lodges, and a beautiful overlook. Not to forget about the 75 acre lake that is home to turtles, birds, snakes, fish, and even salamanders.
