For more than 30 years, VISIONS Service Adventures has set the standard for high school service programs. Immerse yourself in local communities, accomplish impactful projects, and make lifelong connections. VISIONS summer 2022 program locations are Montana Blackfeet and Montana Farm and Ranch in the U.S., British Virgin Isles, Dominican Republic (Spanish), and Peru (Spanish).
Start to see the world in a larger way. Dig Deep. Do Good. Amaze Yourself.
VISIONS programs are grounded in a philosophy that has been changing the lives of teenagers and young adults for more than three decades. We believe it is best to do one thing and do it well. That’s why across all teen summer programs we have one model, built on the pillars of meaningful service, full cultural immersion and adventurous exploration.
You'll live and work in the community, not view it from a tourist perspective. We've had decades-long relationships with our community partners, and we respect the local residents. You'll work and laugh along side them and make lasting friendships. You'll experience local traditions and, in Peru and Dominican Republic, practice your Spanish.
It's not all work in a VISIONS program, it's adventure too! You'll explore the natural beauty of the location you choose. It might be hiking Machu Pichu, soaking in a hot springs pool, exploring local markets, scuba diving, horseback riding, attending a pow wow, and so much more.
VISIONS dedicated leaders are compassionate, motivated, and conscientious mentors. Leaders are all certified in First Aid and CPR, and many hold advanced safety certifications. You'll work and relax along side them every day! VISIONS has a unique ratio of one leader to every five participants to ensure that you get the most out of your relationships and the entire experience.
HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER PROGRAMS 2022
British Virgin Islands. Embrace the opportunity to engage in meaningful volunteer work in the Caribbean—animal welfare, carpentry and social service with kids. Learn tangible lessons about the social and conservation issues the islands face in the midst of increasingly destructive storms and a changing environment. And swim, snorkel, scuba dive and explore in one of the most beautiful and welcoming places on earth.
Dominican Republic. Help rebuild a school, construct a playground and assist with a plethora of other valuable service projects in Cotui, a historic locale that dates to the early 1500s. Spend off-hours in classic Caribbean style—socializing (distanced), laughing, playing dominoes and other games with local kids, practicing your Spanish and watching baseball games with new friends. Complete the experience with adventures to the northern coast, countryside hikes, cave exploration, and a trip to the remote Los Haitises National Park!
U.S. Montana Blackfeet. Live on a ranch amid the rolling grasslands of the Blackfeet Reservation in northwestern Montana. Work on conservation and building projects that serve the Blackfeet Indian tribe. Attend the annual powwow, try your hand at beading and horseback riding, learn about native plants and explore this incredible part of the Northern Rockies.
U.S. Montana Farm and Ranch. Roll up your sleeves for a summer of service and untrammeled adventure. Delve into sustainability, organic food production and land preservation while volunteering with farmers and ranchers, conservationists and local nonprofits. Experience the grandeur and culture of the West through backpacking in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, river rafting and unique workshops.
Peru. Work with indigenous farmers on an evolving irrigation project, construct improvements to local school facilities, practice speaking Spanish in daily life, learn from resident experts about chocolate-making, carpentry, pottery, and beekeeping, explore cultural traditions from soccer to salsa dancing, and experience spectacular vistas and ancient history at Machu Picchu and other ruins.
When you successfully complete a VISIONS high school summer program, you'll receive a Certificate of Service that includes project details and the service hours associated with the program location.
