    Overview

With Coding 101, you'll begin to build the skills that will make contributions to the digital ecosystem and solve real world problems. Coding 101 is strategically designed to be suitable for students of all skill levels, whether you’re an expert or a newbie.

The future of technology will require capabilities that we can only dream of now. Through our engaging two-week summer program, you can master the coding skills necessary to solve real world problems. Coding 101 is strategically designed to be suitable for students of all skill levels, whether you’re advanced and looking to take your coding to the next level, or a programming rookie who has never coded before. Immerse yourself in a new challenge at Tufts. Reap the benefits of hands-on training and position yourself for future success. You will learn Python, one of the most popular coding languages today, used not just for mobile apps, but also for web and software development, as well as desktop graphic user interfaces (GUIs). As data science, programming, and coding are some of the fastest growing fields today, with jobs multiplying across industries, the potential applications are endless. Programming and Computer Science are a new and growing literacy that will help you navigate and explore almost any field of human activity!

Uniquely comprehensive, Coding 101 supplements daily coding lectures with a diverse range of faculty guest lectures on topics like the history of programming and introductions to AI, Robotics, and Cybersecurity. You will gain insights into computing and grow your skills through individual and small, group-based daily coding, discussion, and skills building sessions. Through these daily training sessions, you'll be able to better understand computing and coding, working within groups, and further expand your abilities. In addition, "Tech Treks" to Boston-area technology-centric companies, such as HubspotGoogleGinkgo BioworksFidelity, and more, will allow you to explore the vast array of careers in the ever-expanding fields of software and technology. Learning from experts in the field, students work together to develop not just in-demand programming skills but also the soft skills that you need to successfully create a final coding project. You’ll take the skills that you’ve acquired in the classroom and, collaborating with your team, present your exciting project at program close.
