This summer, tackle issues of social justice using design thinking, the innovative approach to problem solving used by Google, Apple and design firms around the world. Make real change in our world this summer!
PopUp for Change, a program of the 14th Street Y, brings teens together to transform urban spaces into vibrant PopUp food trucks, supper clubs and fashion boutiques that tackle issues of social justice. Engaging with design thinking and Jewish values of social justice, our teens explore, listen, and respond to the needs of the community to make real change in the world. In 2015, our teens worked with residents of a low income housing development and local farmers to create and operate a PopUp food truck - bringing healthy food options to the community. In 2016, our PopUp Supper Club offered a unique series of dinner gatherings to shake up the daily routine and address the specific needs of vulnerable senior citizens at the Sirovich Center.
