Looking for a paid apprenticeship that delivers career skills and sparks creativity? Check out the Teen Creative Arts Internship Program offered by Pillsbury House Theater, a Minneapolis local non-profit organization working to integrate the arts into all aspects of the services.
8 weeks of hands-on paid baking and business experience 2 days per week of baking in a commercial kitchen with a real professional chef 1 day of deliveries and taking orders for next week's desserts 1 day of business skills: Marketing, budgeting, sales and resume building
8 weeks of hands-on sewing and fashion business experience 2 days per week sewing and clothing creation lessons 1 day of free project time to work on garments or an online store 1 day of business skills: Marketing, styling, sales and resume building
- Who Can Apply:
Youth entering 8th-12th grades
- When is it?
Part time, 2-3 hours a day, 4 days a week (you can still have another job!) Tue-Thurs 2-5pm, Fridays 2-4pm
- How much will I be paid?
$500 for the 8 week program, paid in weekly installments if you attend all 4 sessions/week
- Will this help me get a job in the future?
Yes! Baking Interns will get ServSafe certification, which shows they are ready to work in a professional kitchen environment. Both the Culinary Arts interns and the Fashion Design interns will have resume building classes and learn professional skills like marketing, sales techniques, styling (food styling and styling models!). Interns who finish the program with 3 or less absences who are in good standing with the teaching staff will have the opportunity to receive a recommendation for jobs, scholarships, or future internships. All interns who complete training will also receive a graduation certificate and celebration ceremony.

- Can I do both internships?
The classes take place at the same time, so you'll have to choose.
- How do I apply?
Apply in person with Gracie Miller, Youth Manager at Pillsbury House starting the week of April 4, 2016, ending once the program is filled. She can answer any questions you might have about the internship as well as give you a tour! In person application times are Monday-Thursday, 4-6pm. - Can I sign up with a friend?
Absolutely! But they need to come apply in person as well, you can't do it for them.
