GROOVE U: Audio Production Camp
Overview
Spend a week in the producer’s chair at GROOVE U’s $1.2m creative campus and experience what it’s like to learn, work, and create alongside music industry professionals and other creatives in state-of-the art recording studios.
Spend a week in the producer’s chair at GROOVE U’s $1.2m creative campus and experience what it’s like to learn, work, and create alongside music industry professionals and other creatives in state-of-the art recording studios. Overview You, your peers, and industry professionals will work together to craft lyrics, melody, and rhythm for the next hit song. Then, you’ll move to Studio A and take on the role of producer to refine that song and make it the best it can be. Your song will be sent to professional local musicians, who you’ll record live in the studio.
You’ll then become the engineer, during which you’ll learn mic-ing techniques and recording methods from a working industry professional to record the best audio possible. You’ll take to the board and mix with both timeless gear and professional digital plugins. At the end of the week, you’ll have a mini live-sound workshop, where you’ll set up and run sound during a performance at GROOVE U. At the end of the day, your song will be premiered for your parents in Studio A.
Additional Information GROOVE U does not require students to bring anything for the program; all necessary materials will be provided. However if they choose, students are welcome to bring laptops, iPads, and/or headphones. Students are encouraged but not required to bring instruments and/or a song they’ve been working on for the songwriting portion of the workshop. Lunch will be provided daily for students.
Housing Due to GROOVE U’s small class and campus sizes, there are no dormitories on campus. However, students coming from farther away still have the opportunity to stay overnight in Dublin for the week. Overnight students will be paired up and placed into assigned rooms at the Sonesta ES Suites five minutes from GROOVE U’s Creative Campus. A chaperone will provide transport to and from campus daily, and stay overnight in the hotel should students need assistance. Housing is limited and subject to availability/demand.
