    Overview

Hosted by the Washington Conservatory of Music, the Great Black Classical Composers program is a fantastic opportunity for young musicians interested in learning about the legacies of black composers.

Throughout the course of a month, students will participate in a weekly online session via Zoom. They can expect an interactive experience where they have the chance to connect with like-minded individuals and network. Some musicians they may learn about include Chevalier de Saint-Georges, who is known as the "Black Mozart", and George Bridgetower. This is truly the perfect program for any musicians or fans of music to learn more about the rich history of composition with a focus on black musicians. Led by the renowned composer Jeffrey Mumford, this opportunity will celebrate the past and help young musicians refine their skills.
