    Overview

    Musical Theatre introduces talented and dedicated high school rising juniors and seniors to the rigors of undergraduate BFA training in musical theater. The five-week program, eligible for college credits, focuses on technique-based training in skill development for singing, acting, dance and song interpretation.  Musical Theatre Studio is offered as a noncredit or college credit program option.

    The summer faculty, all who teach during the school year and include alumni of the BFA Musical Theatre Program at Emerson College, have Broadway, regional, national touring, television and film credits, and draw from these experiences to create a dynamic cross between scholarship and rigorous training.

    Professional guest artists including alumni who graduated from the Emerson BFA Musical Theatre Program may also be invited to join in the online classes. 

    Musical Theatre Studio introduces you to the rigors of Emerson's nationally renowned undergraduate BFA training in musical theater. The 5-week program, eligible for four college credits, focuses on technique-based training in skill development for singing, acting, dance and song interpretation and reflects on the training in the Emerson BFA Musical Theatre Program, which emphasizes process. The priority is not on performance or production, but on the fundamentals, vocabulary and discipline of the craft.

    Preparation for both professional and college admission auditions will also be addressed.  During the last week of the program, students who are rising seniors are offered an option to audition for the BFA Musical Theatre Program at Emerson for future admittance consideration.  Musical Theatre Studio is offered as a noncredit or credit program.
