Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning is a one-week summer program that takes place at Longwood Medical Area in Boston, Massachusetts. This program is similar to the Boston Leadership Institute's Artificial Intelligence for Mobile Games course, but it is designed for intermediate computer science students.
This program also teaches students what artificial intelligence and machine learning are, how it works, and where it can be used, but this course will include more coding. Students will transition between lectures and workshops to code and train artificial intelligence to autonomously win games that are modeled on popular mobile apps.
Students will learn how to implement a neural network, which is a machine-learning technique based on neurons in the brain, to train their artificial intelligence. Attendees will also use genetic algorithms, which is an optimization technique based on biological evolution, to make the training process efficient.
Students who sign up should be at the AP Computer Science level or the equivalent of it, and all code will be written in Python. Algebra II or the equivalent is also expected from students.
The instructor will provide access to supplementary materials ahead of the start date that will teach students specific math concepts they will need to know to advance their knowledge during this program.
