Gap at CET Siena is an Italian intensive language program for students who have graduated high school. Whether you've previously studied Italian language, or you're just interested in getting to know Italy better—this program is the perfect starting point.

    Life in Siena

There are many ways to get to know Siena and the Tuscany region during your time on the program. From shopping at open-air markets, to taking a dance or cooking class, to attending Viareggio’s Carnevale, you always have a new and exciting activity to look forward to. You can also spend your time giving back to the community, volunteering with a local organization such as a soup kitchen or nursing home.

Gap at CET Siena students have two housing options: Share an apartment with other CET students and a local roommate or live with a local homestay family. Either way, both options are an immersive experience that help you practice your language skills, discover Siena, and gain a deeper understanding of Italian society and culture from an inside perspective.

You take two Italian language courses: an intensive course available at 5 different levels that covers two semester’s worth of material in one term, and a supplementary course that allows you to dive into a local topic of interest to help shape your language lessons, activities, and excursions throughout the term. In addition to language study, you take a seminar that connects you with other CET gap students around the world, focused on reflection, discussion, and skill-building during this important time of your life.

Join the group in a 4-day Traveling Seminar to Sicily, included in the program. Explore Palermo, hike Mount Etna, enjoy a food tour, and more as you learn about this unique region.
