    Overview

Youth as Solutions empowers a new generation to drive positive change in their schools and communities. Through our self-paced service-learning program, Leadership Teams—comprising at least two youth in grades 6-12 and an adult mentor from a public school, school district, government entity, or nonprofit—tackle key community issues. These teams create meaningful projects in areas such as education, community health, environment, or civics and democracy.

Do you...want to hone your leadership skills? Have a desire to use your voice to take action on issues you care about? Feel passionately about positively impacting your school, community, and the world? Then Youth as Solutions is for you!

Youth as Solutions gives students like yourself the power to make a difference in your community. After forming a Leadership Team (of at least two students grades 6-12 + an adult mentor) you’ll apply to create a service-learning project based in one of our core impact areas: education, community health, environment, or civics and democracy. You will recruit other students to join your team and support your project while following our step-by-step service-learning process to tackle one of these big problems and make real change happen in your community. You’ll investigate community needs, plan and prepare a project to address those needs, take action, reflect on your work, and demonstrate your learning, with our support along the way. You'll develop your leadership skills and connect with our national group of changemakers, all while taking action on an issue in your school and community! We provide the training, tools, templates, funding ($250 - $1,000), and connections that you need to make real change happen.

Applications are due by September 4, 2025.
