    Overview

We are Emile Cohl Art Academy, a non-profit, full-time, tuition-free Art Academy in the heart of Los Angeles, California, with majors in Animation, Illustration, and Game Design. We believe diversity empowers creativity, and provide opportunities for talented individuals no matter their race, gender, or ability to pay.

For more than 35 years, Ecole Emile Cohl has trained world-class alumni from its flagship location in Lyon, France. At the Emile Cohl Art Academy in Los Angeles, we are transforming that global sensation into a stateside solution: A non-profit, first-of-its-kind, TUITION-FREE Art Academy that attracts highly-skilled, structured talent from all facets of life, and transforms them into the new benchmark for artistic integrity.

We believe that greatness happens when people from varying backgrounds, cultures, and world views come together and start the conversation. That's us. We embrace diversity, and so do the creative industries. We are an Art Academy that focuses on providing an opportunity for talented individuals to follow their dreams and succeed - no matter their background, race, religion, or sexual orientation. Because to create art that speaks to the world, we have to include all voices.

LOCATION: We are conveniently located in the heart of Los Angeles, near USC and countless restaurant and housing options, as well as public transportation.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Our school is full-time, meaning class hours run from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with an hour lunch break from 12:30 to 1:30. Our school year begins on the first weekday of September and ends on the last weekday of July (with holiday breaks in-between), for a full 42 weeks of study.

ADMISSIONS: Admission is based on talent and motivation only: not academics, ethnicity, gender, background, financial circumstances, or any extracurricular activities. Candidates submit their portfolio online for review. At ECAA we conduct blind portfolio reviews to avoid bias and promote diversity. Your personal information will not appear on any of the artwork being judged by our admissions department. Your age, gender, religion, race or financial circumstances are none of our concern. We are offering a life-changing opportunity to the best artists, which means your portfolio will speak on your behalf, showcasing your talent - and only your talent.
