Explore the outdoors from canyons to mountains on the Semester in the Rockies. This course will be your opportunity to learn a variety of outdoor skills across the western United States and earn a Wilderness First Responder certification.
A NOLS semester focuses on the hands-on application of new skills and learning through direct feedback, whether you’re climbing a sandstone crack, identifying animal tracks and wildflowers, or practicing leading and following your peers. A foundational course goal is building an inclusive community with your peers. Learning the value of teamwork, you will tackle group challenges and achieve common goals. This course will take you from the high peaks of Wyoming to the red canyons of Utah.
Your semester will consist of four different outdoor activities—a combination of backpacking, mountaineering, rock climbing, river travel, and canyon travel—and a Wilderness First Responder certification (WFR).
