CET Jordan students get top-tier intensive Arabic language instruction and take on an internship with a local organization in Amman. Combined with field-based learning, language partners, and a housing setup designed to engage and acclimate you, it’s a full semester of learning tailored to your interests and goals.
Academics
You take two language courses: Modern Standard Arabic, the language of the nightly newscasts, and Jordanian Dialect, the language spoken in the markets and between friends. In addition to these classes, you get one-on-one discussion time with an instructor for extra practice that can help you get customized grammar lessons or build vocabulary related to your internship.
Internship
In the internship component of the program, you are matched with an organization that allows you to explore your interests in a professional setting. This non-credit experience is a chance to build your résumé, learn valuable skills, and test your language skills in a new work environment, while contributing to the work of your host organization.
Activities & Excursions
Each term, the program offers different extra-curricular activities that provide opportunities to explore Amman, experience Jordanian culture, or just unwind with your friends. You also join your cohort on a 3-day excursion outside of Amman to visit the Dead Sea, Petra, and Wadi Rum.
