Overview

EF Gap Year helps students become citizens of the world and prepare them for success in a global career. EF Gap students explore several countries, learn a language, volunteer, engage in cultural exchange, intern abroad, and develop leadership skills. EF Gap programs are accredited so students can earn 18 college credits.

At EF, our advisors work with you to customize a highly individualized program that meets both your personal and professional goals. You decide how long you’d like to be away, and how you’d like to focus your gap experience. All programs include a week-long orientation in London and a “Welcome Tour” of Europe. They all end with a two-week leadership academy at a prestigious business school in the U.K. and final gala banquet with an awards ceremony.

No other organization takes you to a dozen or more countries—on virtually every continent—during your time away to explore new cultures, learn new languages, volunteer for worthwhile causes, gain international work experience, and develop your leadership skills. You’ll return home a completely different person, thoroughly prepared and energized to begin both college and adult life as a citizen of the world.
