EF Gap Year is a 25-week program helps students become citizens of the world and prepare them for success in a global career. Students explore several countries, learn a language, volunteer, engage in cultural exchange, intern abroad, and develop leadership skills. Programs are accredited so students can earn college credit.
The EF Gap Year begins in September with a group orientation and 2 weeks of cultural immersion in Europe. Students are then able to personalize their own gap experience by choosing the country and focus of their language course, volunteer service and internship. Later in the year, students regroup for an in-depth tour of Australia & New Zealand. Leadership Academy and a gala banquet wraps up the program.
At EF, our advisors work with you to customize a highly individualized program that meets both your personal and professional goals. You decide where you want to go and how you’d like to focus your gap experience. All programs include a orientation and 2 weeks of cultural immersion in Europe. They all end with Leadership Academy at a prestigious business school in the U.K. and final gala banquet with an awards ceremony.
No other organization takes you to a dozen or more countries—on virtually every continent—during your time away to explore new cultures, learn new languages, volunteer for worthwhile causes, gain international work experience, and develop your leadership skills. You’ll return home a completely different person, thoroughly prepared and energized to begin both college and adult life as a citizen of the world.
