Mission Statement

The Frederick Douglass National Historic Site preserves the home and legacy of Frederick Douglass, a runaway slave, abolitionist, civil rights advocate, author, and statesman.

Become a steward of the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site by joining the Volunteers-In-Parks (VIP) program. Volunteers are essential for taking care of the site and connecting visitors to one of America's national treasures.
