The New-York Historical Society, one of America's pre-eminent cultural institutions, is dedicated to fostering research, presenting history and art exhibitions, and public programs that reveal the dynamism of history and its influence on the world of today.

KEITH HARING FUND FOR YOUTH AUDIENCES: connects teens from underserved communities to diverse voices and perspectives on American art and history, removing barriers to help young people access the highest quality arts and culture learning experiences.

STUDENT HISTORIAN INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: Meet with professional staff to learn about careers in the museum, library, and history fields; work collaboratively with fellow students to develop public speaking and leadership skills; and engage in hands-on work to deepen your understanding of American history and art. The theme of the program is We the People: Democracy from Athens to America. Open to: High school students, entering grades 10, 11, 12 or their first year of college in Fall 2020.

GILDER LEHRMAN SATURDAY ACADEMY: Saturday Academy is a free, five-week program for students from grades 8–12 who love American history and are looking to strengthen their test-taking skills. Participants can choose from SAT prep course, an extensive review for the Advanced Placement U.S. History exam, and other hands-on history courses that draw on the New-York Historical Society’s collections.

TECH SCHOLARS PROGRAM: Investigate the lives and legacies of women who have shaped the American experience. Explore how women across the spectrum of race, class, and sexuality exercised power and effected change. Be a digital changemaker and create your own projects—including games, apps, and websites—to share powerful stories about women in history! Open to: High school students, grades 9–12 who self-identify as women.

RESOURCES FOR TEENS BY TEENS: U.S. History Regents Exam Review Materials U.S. History Exam Review Catalogs and Activity Guides created by past Student Historians use our vibrant collections to bring history to life. The guides connect tangible objects to key test themes, topics, and vocabulary to help students prepare for the U.S. History and Government Regents Exam.
