Mission Statement

What we do every day at BIDMC makes a difference in people’s lives. That’s why we are passionate about caring for our patients like they are family, finding new cures, using the finest and the latest technologies, and teaching and inspiring caregivers of tomorrow

The mission of Volunteer Services is to recruit, process and train volunteers to provide quality volunteer service for BIDMC patients and staff. When we receive a completed application accompanied by two letters of reference, we will contact the applicant to set up an interview. The letters of recommendation should be from persons who have known the young person for several years such as a teacher, rabbi, counselor, employer, pastor; not relatives or personal friends. Please bring two forms of identification to the interview such as a photo ID, birth certificate, driver's license, student ID or your passport or travel visa. At this meeting we will review the volunteer opportunities that are open at the time, provide information about the required health screening and our dress code, and determine what types of positions the applicant would be interested in filling. The application may also be faxed to 617-975-5496. We look forward to meeting prospective volunteers and finding a way for them to be a vital part of the work we do in providing quality care for our patients.
