Track and Field Summer Programs
Colleges and specialty sports camps host Track and Field Summer Programs that introduce pre-college students to an array of events within track and field and advance their skills as they prepare to compete at the next level. These are multi-sport programs that can be enjoyed as day or overnight sessions. Programs are typically coed. Instructors drawn from college and university athletic programs and experienced track and field players guide participants to improve in areas such as teamwork, coordination, agility, leadership, fitness and perseverance. They also teach skills in track and field events, including sprinting, middle and long distance running, shot put, weight throw, long jumping, high jumping, hurdles, relay races, pole vault, triple jump, discus, javelin, hammer throw, the marathon, the decathlon and the heptathlon. Students are often able to stay in dorms, becoming acquainted with college life, and can practice using state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor facilities.
