Swimming and Diving Summer Programs
Recreational and competitive swimmers and divers can get a lot out of summer programs based at colleges and camps. Middle and high school students of various ability levels can participate in Swimming and Diving Summer Programs. They learn basic swimming skills such as breathing, floating, body coordination, kicking, strokes, and entering and exiting pools. These programs are often based around pools but can also be located at lakes and the ocean. Higher skilled and competitive swimmers can hone their abilities with expert instructors, including advanced stroke instruction, and start and turn work. There is also dry land training specific to swimming such as nutrition, mental preparation for competition, race strategy and goal setting. Programs can be swimming or diving only, or feature both sports. Students interested in learning diving will be taught using platforms and springboards and learn skills including board work, take offs, agility and entering the water.
