Rugby Summer Programs
With its origins in Greek and Roman ball games, modern rugby is a globally popular sport that has gained traction in the United States through colleges and universities that offer pre-college summer programs for all ability levels. Typically aimed at high school boys, but with some variation depending on the program, Rugby Summer Programs encourage fun, emphasize safety, and teach participants the skills they need to excel at a higher level or just enjoy recreational competition. Top coaches and instructors drawn from professional rugby teach participants fundamentals such as passing, catching, kicking, evading, tackling, pushing and pulling. Strategy and fitness including strength training, agility and aerobic conditioning are also important aspects of these programs. Participants can enroll in day or residential programs. Some summer programs include rugby along with a variety of sports, including lacrosse, football, baseball, soccer, flag football, biking and others.
