Counselors in Training (CIT) Summer Programs
Campers who enjoy their experience and want to take on more responsibilities can sign up for Counselors in Training (CIT) Summer Programs. These programs teach participants -- typically teenagers who have attended the camp or other program in the past -- how to lead campers in a safe and enriching way. Counselors in Training are normally paired with a counselor mentor who coaches and teaches them how to supervise and educate campers. Participants are regularly evaluated and receive guidance on how to improve their leadership, social, communication and supervisory skills. Depending on their program, counselors in Training experience a range of activities while in training, such as swimming, field hockey, baseball, softball, team building exercises, dance, music, soccer, tennis, kickball, etc. CITs learn how to safely use and teach the use of recreational equipment, and how to lead nature excursions.
