Youth Villages offers intensive residential treatment for girls through our advanced, secure Girls Center located on the beautiful Bartlett Campus just outside Memphis.
This state-of-the-art center opened in 2009 and its expansive, hardware-secured residential environment is designed to meet the treatment, educational and health needs of girls ages 9-17 with severe emotional and behavioral problems. The Girls Center seeks to fill a nationwide gap in services and specializes in helping seriously troubled girls who must be treated in a closely supervised environment because they suffer from the most serious emotional and behavioral problems, such as suicidal or self-harming conditions, psychotic symptoms, sexual behavior problems and behavioral issues complicated by chronic medical problems. A child-to-staff radio of 3:1 allows Youth Villages to provide intensive treatment while maintaining a level of safety that creates an environment of trust. Video cameras strategically placed throughout the building also support a setting where child safety is the utmost priority. Large, open spaces filled with natural light help alleviate the institutional quality often associated with programs featuring this level of intensity and security. Our goal is to return children to a less restrictive environment to continue their progress through another Youth Villages campus, intensive in-home services, with their family when possible, or therapeutic foster care when it is not.
