Havenwood Academy is a residential treatment center for girls from ages 12 to 18.
Havenwood Academy operates a Positive Peer Culture system that creates an environment where students build relationships with our therapists, staff and other students that are based on trust and unconditional love and where all decisions are made out of genuine care and concern. In this environment, students find the safety they need to appropriately and effectively deal with the difficult issues impeding their growth and development.
Havenwood Academy provides a wide range of therapies custom designed for each student including individual, family, group, experiential and the informal therapy embedded within the Positive Peer Culture. Havenwood Academy also provides equine therapy using the EGALA model allowing students to develop a trusting relationship with a horse and thereby learn essential life skills such as communication, building trust and problem solving. Havenwood Academy also takes advantage of its location surrounded by National Parks and other natural wonders by involving students in outdoor activities such as rock climbing, hiking and other outdoor recreational activities allowing them to connect with a deeper part of themselves, escape normal daily distractions and find peace.
While students are enrolled in Havenwood Academy, parents and family members are expected, where appropriate, to participate in weekly family therapy and to follow a program designed by Havenwood Academy and their individual therapists to create a better home environment to increase the chances of permanent and meaningful change for the student and the family. Havenwood Academy is licensed by the Utah Department of Human Services, Division of Licensing and is accredited by the Joint Commission Behavioral Health. Havenwood (through its affiliate Havenwood Schools) is accredited by AdvancED and provides a full range of accredited educational, remedial and career services.
