The Winsor School Seniors Share Their Independent Learning Experiences
The Winsor School, a Boston-area independent day school for academically promising and motivated girls in grades 5-12, recently introduced an Independent Learning Experience (ILE) program as a requirement for graduation. The Winsor School, like many other high schools around the nation, is encouraging seniors to pursue independent interests and explore their passions with structured ILE programs. According to The Winsor School, these programs give students a chance to rely on their own self-discipline and motivation to accomplish their objectives. Furthermore, the projects are designed to help prepare seniors for the transition from secondary school to college.

This summer, you will find teenagers tanning on the beach during the day, going to the movie theatre at night, and sleeping in late every morning. This, however, is not the case for one Boston-area teen. This year, Caroline, a rising senior at Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, Mass., will spend a large part of her summer volunteering at Camp Jabberwocky, a small camp for the disabled on Martha's Vineyard.
Click here to read about how Caroline's summer volunteer experience at Camp Jabberwocky helped her build confidence.
