Spotlight of the Month:
Teens Plant Seeds of Comfort with Hope in Bloom

The Dedham based non-profit Hope in Bloom provides a different sort of medicine for those who are undergoing cancer treatment: a beautiful flower garden. The organization plants gardens free of charge at the homes of women and men undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Its mission has inspired many teens to get involved with the cause, including Sharon High School student Erica Greenberg. Erica not only volunteered her time with Hope In Bloom, but in 2007, started a photography club that sells photos as note cards with 100% of the sales benefitting the organization. Read More

Article of the Month:
Volunteering & Interning at Local Museums         

  

Do you have an interest in art, architecture, an enthusiasm for history, a passion for creativity, or a desire to work in a museum environment?  The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, and other Boston-area museums offer intern or volunteer opportunities for teens helping them gain invaluable work experience in a supportive and fun environment. Month of July: Volunteer with the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center as a Hotline Counselor, Medical Advocate, or raise community awareness to help end sexual violence through healing & social change.


July-August: Help Cradles to Crayons on July 15th-18th support new parents with donations of new and nearly-new baby gear.Be the first to raise $150 dollars to sponsor 10 backpacks for kids and earn a volunteer spot at our Backpack-a-thon on August 14th.


July-August:
Help the World Computer Exchange with its mission to bridge the digital divide for the world's poorest youth by volunteering to pack and test computers on July 18th & August 15th.




August 6th: Ever wondered how you could put your Facebook skills to good use? Teach Web and Social Media skills to interested adults at Discovering What's Next and connect with people of different generations. 



Month of August: Serve as an Outreach Volunteer for The Boston Rescue Mission on August 1st, August 8th and August 15th, and support the less fortunate of Boston who are living on the streets.



Month of August: Assist People Making a Difference with a variety of projects: help out a game tournament at the Pine Street Inn on August 2nd; build and assemble LEGO kits for teaching Biology at MIT on August 4th; paint kids' faces for a day of fun on August 15th.



July-September: Launched by DoSomething.org and Staples, Do Something 101 is a national school supply drive that benefits underserved youth. Now in its second year, the campaign encourages YOU to collect school supplies to support your community now through September 19th.
