Spotlight of the Month: Greenschools is Making Massachusetts A Greener Place for Students One School at a Time

According to the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention & Health Promotion, asthma is one of the leading causes of absenteeism in schools. Robin Organ is helping to change this statistic through Greenschools, a non-profit organization that is working with Massachusetts schools to create greener & healthier learning environments for students and staff. Organ sat down with TeenLife Boston to talk about Greenschools, and how teens can work with her organization to promote positive change in their own schools & communities. Read more

      Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities                    

 

 May 16th- Help World Computer Exchange bridge the digital divide by volunteering to pack and test computers. More



 May 30th- Join City Year Boston for Serve-a-thon & help revive Boston's schools, playgrounds, vacant lots, housing developments, and parks. More



June 20th- Volunteer at the 2009 Life is good Festival on Boston Common &  spend a day outdoors, helping others of all ages release their playful selves while raising money for our most vulnerable children. The day begins at 10 a.m. with a High-Energy Fundraising Walk



 June 28th-  Volunteer to help the Multiple Sclerosis 
 Society of Central New England with its 2-day Cape Cod
 Getaway Bike Ride. More


July 31st- The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge needs volunteers for its weekend bike-a-thon that crosses the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. More


 Summer- Help Boston Rescue Mission prepare & serve meals for the homeless population of Boston. More


 Summer- Organize a goods drive to help Cradle to Crayons provide essentials for parents with young children. More

Year-Round- Serve as a host family in 2009-2010 for a Harvard graduate student from a foreign country. More



Year-Round- Join On the Rise for Volunteer Saturdays & participate in an array of volunteer projects that are creative & fun. More

             Summer Program Spotlight                           



New England Conservatory' offers a variety of summer programs for teen performers & musicians. Programs include: Vocal Vacation 2009: Urban Summer Choir Festival for Middle & High School Students, Festival Youth Orchestra, Go For Baroque!, & Jazz Ensembles. Placement auditions are May 30th, 2009.
  


Summer is right around the corner &  Sail Caribbean has a few spots left in selected programs. Reserve your spot during the month of May for select sailing programs while space is available and you will receive a savings of 20% off of the program tuition!
