Q What is TeenLife's Privacy Policy?
A

TeenLife is committed to providing a quality service while at the same time protecting our members. Student, Parent/Guardian, Educator, and Other Counselor/Advisor members do not have public profiles. Also, TeenLife does not sell, rent, or otherwise give out your membership information.

Q What is the history of TeenLife?
A

In the four years since it was founded, TeenLife has become a multi-media company that serves over 5,000 parents, college- bound middle and high school students, educators, and other advisors.

As a recent transplant to Boston, with two teen boys, company president & founder Marie Schwartz desperately needed a resource that could easily provide information about meaningful summer programs for teens. Not surprisingly, many other parents did, too. She started modestly during the winter of 2005-2006 by entering any local summer programs that she saw advertised or found online into an Excel spreadsheet. Next, Marie hired a designer to create a logo, and published the first Guide to Summer in Boston in February 2006. The PTAs at the schools that her sons attended, and several others, promoted the guide ($19) and a portion of each sale was contributed back to the school. Parents and educators who bought the guide loved it!

In Fall of 2006, someone asked Marie if the guide would be updated and the second one was published in January 2007. At that point, Marie decided to focus full time on TeenLife, engaged a graphic design firm, and hired the first part-time employee in October 2007!

In 2008, we published a Community Service Guide as well as the Guide to Summer Programs and launched the first annual Community Service Fair at the Atrium Mall. The first fair (February 2008) attracted over 500 visitors and in February 2009 the event at the Chestnut Hill Mall attracted over 800 visitors. This "signature event” will be held this year on February 7, 2010.

In March 2009, we finally launched a new web site so that the data could be accessed online and our listing partners could update their own data (BIG improvement!!). The new web site has also allowed us to switch from a subscription model to an advertising model, which allows parents, students, and educators to register for free, and the programs and resources to pay a fee to receive additional visibility.

We are on track to achieve 15,000 registered members and 5,000 listings by year end!

Q I used to receive email notifications from TeenLife but they have stopped. Why?
A

You may be having this problem because your ISP/email provider is blocking our messages. Many ISP/email providers have taken it upon themselves to block certain senders, even if you’ve made adjustments to your filter settings. Unfortunately, if this is the case, TeenLife is limited in that we cannot control how providers decide to filter messages. You may want to contact your ISP/e-mail provider (if you have not already) to inform them of this issue and ask whether anything can be done to receive our e-mails.

Q How do I add a listing for the TeenLife Calendar?
A

Listings in the main calendar can only be added by TeenLife administrators. To request that a listing be added, use the Contact Us feature on the homepage under the revolving images. Listings in a group calendar must be added by the Group Administrator.

Q Does TeenLife have a Facebook Page or Twitter Account?
A

YES! TeenLife uses social media to promote exclusive deals, news, and events to our members.
